| Carr Urges Broadcasters to Get Patriotic |
FCC Chairman Brendan Carr’s list of examples connected with the 250th anniversary of the U.S. included starting each broadcast day with the “Star Spangled Banner” or Pledge of Allegiance, and airing music by composers such as John Philip Sousa. Friday’s announcement does not require radio stations to air the programming, though Carr used the phrases “taking the pledge” and “fulfilling their public interest mandate” in the same sentence.
