a reminder as to our latest schedule here in OCTOBER 2018

monday thru friday–6 to 10am  Bruce Van Dyke’s Big Bucket O’ Tunes, with disc jockey Randy Shuffle making the selections.

Don Darue’s Risky Biscuit Hayseed Hoot, in its 26th year (!) now plays on Jive Radio on Wednesday 12 noon to 2 pm.  and on Saturday from 2pm to 4pm.  the finest in modern Americana music with a healthy dose of smart ass attitude.

Sister Tiny’s Song & Dance (yes, THAT Sister Tiny, the one from KFAT)–Weds. 10 am to noon, Sat. noon to 2 pm.

Di’s Jive Cafe (presented by Diane Michaels, the diyatollah of rock n rollah)–Weds. 2 to 4 pm. Sat 4 to 6 pm.

at all other times, you’re hearing the The Master Bucket of Schizoclectic Musical Noodles, prepared by Ascended Masters of The Great Gaian Groove Thang.  so there’s that.

Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles, Beggar’s Banquet by the Rolling Stones, The Who Sell Out by The Who, American Beauty by the Grateful Dead, L.A. Woman by The Doors and For the Roses by Joni Mitchell. Hear why these records still have the power to impress and dazzle despite being 40 to 50 years old.

REGISTER TO VOTE!!!!

so you’re registered to vote, right?  this election coming up on 11-6……kind of a biggie (and remember…..voting on ACTUAL election day is a pain in the butt that can be avoided.  take advantage of early voting!)

if you are NOT registered…….it’s not too late.  deadlines are approaching, but there’s time.  but don’t wait until the deadline.  JUST DO IT.  the sooner the better.

in nevada, the deadline to register in person is OCTOBER 16TH. the deadline to register online is OCTOBER 18TH.

in oregon, the deadline to register in person is OCTOBER 16TH.

in california, the deadline to register is OCTOBER 22ND.

yes, you can register online.  you can register in person.  you can register by mail.  but whichever you do, DO IT NOW.  don’t screw around.  get it done.  you will find all the information you need……county registration offices, dmv info, online instructions…..on the web.  your local county registrar will have a web site.  so will the secretary of state.

OREGON–is a vote-by-mail state.

shazam!!!!

every once in a while, we like to remind you of an app that really helps Jive Radio listeners with song and artist identification.  it’s a wonderful application called Shazam.  it’s free and it downloads to your device in 1-2 minutes at the most.  once you install, it’s very simple to use.  when you hear a song that sparks a desire for info, you just hold your device up to the speaker as the song plays.  within seconds, Shazam will identify (usually) the song, the artist, and often the album title.  it’s a very spiffy app and a very handy helper for us at Jive, where most of the time, the songs are being played via random shuffle mode of a computer at Jive Central HQ, and aren’t being identified after airplay.  Shazam is our favorite CYA app here at JR!

I’ve found that Shazam will make the call about 80-85% of the time, and when you consider some of the crazy, obscure stuff we occasionally throw out there, that’s a most acceptable batting average.

of course, when you listen to the shows of Sister Tiny, Diane Michaels, and Hayseed Don Darue, you WILL get songs and artists identified, cuz they old school bossjox!  so that’s nice……

that number reflects the reality of Jive Radio programming.  that for every 60 minutes you listen, you will hear 59 minutes of our various schizoclectic music selections.  not bad!

of course, if that’s just TOO MUCH music, you have plenty of places to find relief on your radio/internet dial.  but we are relentless in our pursuit of 59/60.

and also……96.5 FM in redmond, oregon has new call letters.  the station used to be KSQI.  but now, it’s officially KJIV. the jive is alive in the high desert of Oregon!  we are hopeful of bringing a mind boggling galaxy of tunes to towns like Redmond, Culver, Tumalo, Terrebonne, Prineville, Sisters, and Bend.
