Peter Green……1946-2020

one of the GREAT british guitarists, singers, and songwriters, the remarkable Peter Green went to sleep on July 25th and forgot to wake up.  he was 73 years old.

 

everybody knows Fleetwood Mac.  but not many know that the band was created by Green back in ’67, along with drummer mick FLEETWOOD and bassist john MACvie.  and many of us don’t know that that first version of the Mac was EXTREMELY popular, at least in the UK.  they were STARS, mainly because of Green, who was really good. the author of Black Magic Woman (yep, that’s a fleetwood mac song covered by santana) and a revered guitarist (none other than B.B. King once said Peter was the only guitarist who could give him chills), it’s obvious we need to pay tribute to his memory and legacy.

 

so yes….a tribute show is coming.  it’s currently in production, stay tuned for details……should be ready to roll by thursday?

 

 

 

Mo’ on “Lo”

The world’s one mighty “Lo” short.

R.I.P.Lorenzo ‘Lo’ Milam

There were two men walking the earth more responsible for the being of Jiveradio than anyone else, and now there’s only one. Chief among those two was Lorenzo Wilson Milam, who reportedly died July 19th at his home in Oaxaxca, Mexico.

Lorenzo (‘Lo’ to some) fathered a gaggle of early ‘underground’ radio stations, some of which are still on the air today, KBOO Portland (OR) being an example of Lo’s idea of free-form, anti-estab radio.

He was also a writer and English Professor among other endeavors. His last book (above) is a great read and a classic look into Lo’s mind and perception of the world from his lifelong perch on crutches & wheelchairs. He says about the title: “If you don’t understand the word walkies, you probably are one.”

Lo changed our world in many ways, all good. His body is finally freed and his spirit plays on in the universe… and specifically on Jiveradio.

PS- The other man is thankfully still walking the earth around South Africa somewhere.

Engineer Timmy ‘Tinn’ Cann installs the loaner transmitter on Grizzly Mtn for our Madras station while his crew prepares cocktails & charcuterie. This guy looks like there’s nothin’ to it, but under the grampa hat lurks a mind of razor-sharp wit and other-worldly knowledge.

Yep…the stream is down…

…and the crack technical crew at the “data center” is working on it. As we say around the hive…”please standby…and feel free to enjoy any one of our Jive-assed shows available on demand on our DJ menu above”. We also say: “Men, can’t live with ’em, pass the jerky.”

For those of us who live under the sword of death if we don’t comply strictly with the FCC rules on Emergency Alert System testing (formerly the EBS), this little coffee room joke hit our buttons.
