Back in January 2018, 105.9FM around Corvallis, Oregon lit up from inside George’s lawnmower shed. It was on for over a year, broadcasting for maybe 3 blocks around George’s place, mostly because it was surrounded by huge trees. South of Papa’s Pizza was rockin’ though. Then, it was silent, while much work was done by many selfless people.

Last Fall, one of those selfless chaps joined others in mounting a new antenna on the roof of a 2-story building right smack in downtown Corvtown, donated by a supportive landlord. Then, just a few weeks ago, the mighty 100 KORC watts blanketed the town with the warm glow of Jiveradio programming. The new licensee is ramping up some specialty civics programming and has great plans to be the town’s relevant and pro-active community radio station. You’ll see more on that & them here soon. So, Please Pass the Jive to any Corvillains (Corvallisites?) you know! It’s: 105.9FM

Our ‘own’ Di, Diane Michaels, of “Di’s Jive Cafe” fame, did a phoner with Rock & Roll heavyweight Mike Campbell, “Heartbreakers” lead guitarist and founding member of “Mudcrutch”. Di shared it with us from her day job at a real radio station. We thought you might be amused. If the use of the word ‘fuck’ bothers you, better go on to something else.

“All I want to do is this. I just want to find 11,780 listeners,
which is one more than we have.”

“The Diatollah of Rock & Rollah”*
Who has “Di”??? – – – WE DO! Well, so does a real radio station where our own Diane Michaels has her beloved day job where she holds down the midday shift for the Sand Point/Spokane market. Good thing too, cuz the dough she makes from doing her Jive gig wouldn’t keep Tweety Bird in seed for a week. She hosts “Di’s Jive Cafe” weekly on Sats at 4pm [repeats Weds 4p and always on-demand HERE]. Check out the spiffy interview by her local media HERE.
Di’s always happy to hear from Jiver’s: diane@jiveradio.org
*A loving term coined by her boss Bruce Van Dyke at KTHX-FM in Reno, NV circa 1980’s.
